About Me
Hi, I’m Kayleigh Davies.
I’ve spent over 15 years working as an auctioneer and valuer in regional auction houses across the UK, handling everything from mid-century furniture to tinplate robots. These days, I’m a subject specialist and publisher at Auctionet, a global online marketplace for art, antiques and collectables curated by experts.
While I love most areas of antiques and vintage design, my first (and truest) love is toys, especially those made and played with in 20th-century Britain. I’m particularly interested in how toys reflect social change, nostalgia, and everyday life, and I’ve developed a bit of a reputation for knowing my way around Palitoy, Corgi, Tri-ang and their forgotten rivals.
That passion has led to some fun opportunities. You might’ve seen me on Channel 5’s Cash in the Attic, where I rummage through lofts and garages in search of hidden gems. I’ve also contributed as the toy consultant for the Miller’s Antiques Handbook & Price Guide, and regularly speak and write about the collecting culture behind toys, design, and memory.
I hold a Master’s degree in Antiques, and my dissertation explored the cultural and commercial value of bootleg toys. Don't make the mistake of asking me about it unless you have an hour to spare.
This website is where I share articles, talks and appearances, and the occasional reflection on objects that made us who we are. Whether you’re a collector, a fellow enthusiast, or just curious, welcome.
